Moncton International Airport

Where is Moncton Airport?

Situated in the geographic centre of the Maritimes, Moncton was once an important rail and shipbuilding centre; the economy today is made up of retail and distribution operations, and numerous call centres. Primarily English-speaking, Moncton also has a large Francophone community, chiefly of Acadian origin.

Numerous nearby natural attractions contribute to the tourism economy. The Hopewell Rocks, New Brunswick's signature natural attraction, are a 30 minute drive away. Within an hour's drive are Fundy National Park, Cape Enrage, and the Joggins Fossil Cliffs in Nova Scotia (a UNESCO world heritage site), to name just a few.

Greater Moncton International Airport (IATA: YQM, ICAO: CYQM), also referred to as Greater Moncton Airport, or simply Moncton Airport, is located in the city of Dieppe, 7.4 kilometres (4.6 miles) east northeast of downtown Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The airport is sometimes referred to as "GMIA", however this is not an official IATA airport code. YQM Airport is home to the Moncton Flight College, the largest flight college in Canada.

In 2012, Moncton Airport servied 615,085 passengers. Although small by some standards, Moncton Airport is classified as a Canadian airport of entry, is staffed by the Canada Border Services Agency and has handled planes as large as the 580 passenger Boeing 747.

A popular alternate, Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) in Nova Scotia, is just 2 hours away, offers more direct flights and more destinations.

Airlines that fly to Moncton Airport include Air Canada Express, Air Transat, CanJet, Porter Airlines, Sunwing Airlines, United Express and WestJet.
